Mekorama 1.7.2
Free Version
Less mood, more substance
Browsing through the Play Store today I stumbled upon a game that looked familiar. Ever since playing Monument Valley I have longed for more levels, more wonder and more of that atmosphere. Mekorama certaintly does not compare in this respect to my aforementioned favorite, but plays in a similar fashion. You will not be defying perspective in this one, but the puzzles are generally more difficult.
You will be guiding an odd looking robot by tapping on where you want it to go. There are also mechanical elements in the vein of sliding and rotating platforms, which can (and should) be manipulated in order to beat the level. The goal is the same in all levels, reach a target tile. Your solitary robot will sometimes meet other robots. Unfortunately they usually represent obstavcles and dangers to be avoided. So much for company...
Mekorama does not feature a story and neither strives for artistic perfection. However, some levels can be quite pleasant to navigate through. Even so, the strong point is the fully functional level creator! Yep, you read right. Using the same block set, you can create whatever levels you wish, complete with mobile parts, water and even extra robots. The designer offers the game for free, even though he could easily charge a small sum for it. That's why he invites you to play first and then donate as much as you seem appropriate. I would love to see this kind approach more often. Kudos to Martin Magni!
